The Friends of Melbourne Festival was set up in 2008 as an opportunity for local people and small businesses to support Melbourne Festival.
Melbourne Festival enriches the cultural calendar in the village of Melbourne and the rest of South Derbyshire. As a volunteer based, non-profit making organisation the Festival has survived to date on money raised from the Art & Architecture Trail weekend, supplemented by grants from the Arts Council and a few local companies.
In order to survive in the future, the Festival has to reduce its dependence on Government, i.e. Arts Council, funding and replace it with a mixture of generated income from ticket sales, donations from private individuals and commercial sponsorship.
We would like to invite all families and individuals who would like to support the Melbourne Festival to join the Friends of Melbourne Festival and help ensure our long-term future. The full details are below. Please send us your name and address and a cheque as detailed or call 07765 819428 or e-mail using the Contact Us page of this website and we will send you a paper copy of the brochure by return..
For a small annual membership fee Friends receive a newsletter, early notification of concerts and popular workshops, early access to artists’ work and other benefits including a 10% discount on tickets for concerts. Each year Friends are invited to preview events as a thank you to all of the Friends for their support. This year membership will cost £20 for an individual member, £30 for a family membership (2 adults and children under 18) and £75 for a company membership.
Melbourne Festival is also a valuable commercial opportunity for companies which can use it to target people who are interested in the arts and are prepared to spend on quality goods and services. To offer companies a professionally managed opportunity to take advantage of the Festival, we have developed a Sponsorship Programme full details of which are on our sponsor page.
We hope that you will support Melbourne Festival by becoming a Friend.
